Things to know about

Our creative process

Informed
Support

Whether we work together for an hour or we end up maintaining your website for years to come, every interaction you have with us will feel supportive. We're here to answer your questions and provide design expertise so that you're empowered to make quality choices.

Budget
Conscious

There is no reason why you can't have something beautiful on a budget. After working with design firms that wouldn't look at projects under $10K, we decided to offer our services a-la-carte style so that our clients can pick and choose what they really need. If we can get a portion of your project done by working with 99designs or a Fiverr freelancer – we'll suggest it.

Creative
Collaboration

All web design projects are unique. We're flexible about how involved you want to be in your website rebuild. Some clients thrive with a lot of ideas flowing back and forth, while others prefer to go with a more hands-off approach and give us the reins.

Common Questions

FAQ

How do you build websites? WordPress? Squarespace?

We're CMS agnostic. That means that no matter what platform your website was built on, we can work on it. So if your website is built on WordPress, for example, we can help fix it on WordPress or help you transition to a different service (if that's something you're looking for). Other tools that we've worked with in the past include Webflow, Weebly, Squarespace, and Wix. However, our fanciest websites are custom coded, which is by far our favorite way to build websites.

Your work looks fancy, how does your pricing work?

For initial design consultations there's a flat fee of $175. That includes research, meeting time, and a recap of both afterwards.

For project management or on-going consultations, rates range from $85-$125/hr.

For full-blown web development projects, there are couple of different factors that impact cost:

  • What is the size of project/ # of webpages?
  • Is it a static, ecommerce, or membership website?
  • Do you need photography or other graphic elements?
  • Do you need any new or revamped content (copywriting + copy editing)?
  • Are you refreshing or modernizing your logo or other brand elements?
  • Do you have any desired add-ons (custom social share links, on-page SEO, etc.)?
  • What’s your timeline? Faster turnaround times include a rush fee.

Projects range from $1,500 to $15,000. A design consultation will help you know what range makes sense for your project. We're happy to give you a bid OR recommend talented creatives who might be a better fit for your vision.

How long is your web development process?

Web development is a complex process that requires a lot of individual pieces coming together (writing, branding, photography, etc.). If you come to the table with all of those elements taken care of, your website development process will be faster (~ 2-6 weeks).

Most of our clients end up wanting to work with one of our designers to create assets and make sure that their website has quality content that supports their brand message – and if that's the case for you and your project, it can take up to several months.

Another factor that really impacts a project's timeline is how much bandwidth you have. Do you have time to review logo design concepts or page mockups? If you're interested in writing your own web copy, how long will that realistically take to complete? These are all questions that should be asked in a preliminary meeting to get a sense of your actual project timeline and personal bandwidth.

Are your websites fully editable?

Not all of them! That's one aspect of the conversation that happens at the beginning of any project. A common misconception that many people have is that they must have the ability to fully edit their own website – but this is only necessary for a few clients.

We'll lay out the options for you and help you make an informed decision about whether to opt for a site that you can fully edit, a limited CMS, or enlist a member of our team to manage your content.

Do you have SEO or content marketing offerings?

Search engines favor certain design patterns and have specific requirements. We make sure to meet those technical aspects of SEO before your site goes live.

Those requirements can evolve over time, so it's important to stay up to date on all things SEO and monitor your website to make sure that your site is still search-engine friendly.

As for content marketing or key word strategy, that is not something that Tiny Cricket provides. We recommend that if you want to drive traffic to your website through paid ads or raise your site traffic through organic searches, working with a marketing firm that specializes in SEO is your best bet.

**We do not recommend pouring money into marketing if you don't have a website that encourages visitors to convert (buy your product/engage with your offering).

Do you do your work in-house or outsource?

It’s usually more cost effective to collaborate with external creatives – so if you've got big dreams and a tight budget, we're happy to help you navigate the world of internet designers.

We don't shy away from using pre-made assets. If we don't need to reinvent the wheel for your project, we won't. If we can source what we need from design marketplaces, we'll offer you that option.

No matter what option you choose to go with, you’ll always be working directly with a member of the Tiny Cricket team – and you won't be asked to deal with random contractors that you don't know.
